Scope and Analysis

This initial stage has been completed. It was designed to ensure that the project was viable, founded on a credible business need and had been accurately defined.   The main output of this stage was a Project Initiation Document (PID), which was approved by the Project Board - then comprising IAM, RICS, RIBA, BIFM and OGC - in March 2006.

Preparation

This stage is in progress. Its purpose is to develop the conceptual thinking underpinning the project.  The output of this stage is a series of consultation papers which will enable us to specify a prototype of the standard. This stage will be completed when these papers have been endorsed by the Project Board. At the end of this stage, we will review project arrangements and update or revise the PID if necessary.

Production

This stage will develop a prototype of the standard that can be tested internally by our consortium members before being endorsed by the Project Board.  The standard will be made publicly available after it has completed more extensive market testing through pilot trials.

Maintenance

A continuous process of feedback, evaluation and revision will be required to maintain the standard.  Once the standard is operating, it is hoped that it will be maintained by the Project Board throughout its life.
